MODULAR APLHABET
A modular typeface is an alphabet constructed out of a limited number of shapes or modules. This article helped me get a proper introduction of what modular typefaces are and was a great example on how to create one.

OBJECT ALPHABET
An object alphabet is a design for a set of characters. It is made based on a particular object that you can either identify the letters in or modify to create a set of letters.
Here are some examples:
SHAPES
Before I chose what shape I wanted to rely on for my alphabet, I did some research and looked at different typefaces that included shapes done my several artists and this helped me identify which shape seemed the most interesting for me to work with.
PENCIL SHARPENER
After sketching 10 recognizable objects in class and identified the ones that worked best with letters, I was really interested in the pencil sharpener because It's shape allowed me to recognize different letters within it and it motivated it me to work with it.
